Five-Time Men’s City Tournament Champion, Jake Erickson to compete in 2018
Springfield—April 10, 2018—The Lincoln Land Championship presented by LRS announced today that Jake Erickson, a Springfield native and five-time Men’s City Tournament Champion will compete in the 2018 event via sponsor exemption into the tournament. “We are very excited to be able to extend an exemption to Jake for the 2018 tournament. Jake brings not only his tremendous talent to the table but will also give the home-town crowd a local favorite to root for at this year’s event.” said Executive Director, Kate Peters. “We know Jake has seen remarkable success at Panther Creek in the past and we are planning to see significant galleries in attendance to show their support.”
Erickson, a Springfield native and 2009 Sacred-Heart Griffin graduate, has an impressive golf resume. A five-time city tournament champion (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 & 2017), Erickson also finished T12 in the 2017 Illinois State Amateur Golf Championship at Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Illinois. Other highlights on Erickson’s resume include a T2 finish in the 2017 Illinois State Mid-Amateur Golf Championship at Exmoor Country Club and has been the Club Champion at Panther Creek Country Club in 2016 and 2017. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to compete in the Lincoln Land Championship presented by LRS, “said Erickson. “After earning my master’s degree at SIU, I didn’t have the opportunity to immediately pursue my lifelong dream of playing professional golf and I’ve been focused on growing my career as an amateur as my finishes at the Illinois State Amateur tournaments throughout the years will show. I know that if I have ever been ready, now is the time. To be able to compete on my home course with my friends and family to support me, it’s a dream come true.” Currently Erickson is employed as a Credit Officer with Bank of Springfield. “At Bank of Springfield, we are excited that Jake has this opportunity. The Lincoln Land Championship presented by LRS will be held June 25 – July 1 at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, IL. Tickets to the Lincoln Land Championship are on sale now for $10 or $25 for a four pack of tickets. Every dollar from grounds ticket purchases will go to participating charities. Spectators can upgrade their tournament experience with passes into the Landmark Cadillac Club. The Landmark Cadillac Club is an all-inclusive VIP experience that provides food and beverage, clubhouse access and access to the shared hospitality area on the 18th green.
